Somewhere in storage, I have a book on the Venneman family from when my great-great-great-great grandfather emigrated to the United States from Germany (he was Dutch, from what I remember), married a Native American woman (according to research, she was a chief's daughter), and settled in Missouri. His family spread from there to settle in California, where my grandfather lived until recently. As a child, he rode the hills of the San Fernando Valley on horseback. That knowledge would serve him well fighting fires as a captain with Los Angeles County. He knew where the winds would come from because he had felt them throughout his childhood.
There is also the Pawlowski family, my grandmother's family. Very little is known about this family, so of course there are rumors of Polish nobility, fairly minor... something along the lines of a viscount. Sadly, Pawlowski is a very common Polish name, so the idea that there is any claim to a noble title would be laughable if certain members of my family did not cling to it like a life preserver on the Titanic!
On my mother's side, there is the Davis and Stephens line. I know almost nothing about the Stephens side, but the Davis family emigrated from Wales quite some time ago. My mother says she found a family link to a minor English nobleman, I believe an Earl. I should ask her about that some more. This one could actually be plausible.
Then we lived on Washington Street, where I finally got my own room. Then we lived on Chase St., Gault St., Del Mar, Mar Vista, Colorado Blvd., and finally 27th Ave. Is that enough?
