Hi Lady Arwen, I wouldn't worry about it. Most people like myself probably aren't visiting the forum due to it being winter time and people aren't really thinking about being outside.

I'm sure when the better weather starts again people will be back chatting on the forum about future visits to Lochaber and also sharing pictures from when they have visited.

I've decided not to think about building a cabin on my plots now and I've started up my own Carbon Offset website to encourage people to have trees planted in Scotland to offset their annual carbon emissions and also to help the Forestry Commission Scotland to meet their targets of increasing woodland cover in Scotland from 17% to 25% by 2050.

Doing this will probably mean I'll need to buy lots more plots at Lochaber as I don't think my current plots would be much use if I suddenly received a business looking to plant around 200+ trees.

I've also just signed up for a Conservation course in the last week.

Cheers,
Sinky

Hi,
That's exactly right. Winter here means lots of digging and walking. My driveway is over a half mile long, and the snow drifts over most of it making driving impossible. So, for me, when the weather improves, I'll be online more. You certainly have created an interesting site already.

Be back soon.

I am glad you think this is a good forum, but remember guys, there are many people in place like mine, where it doesn't snow. I laso like to find out whom I have not welcomed in Person. I seem to have missed quite a bit of people. I thought as Admin I automatically would get an update on who joined, but I guess that goes to Lady Laura. Anyhow, thanks for your vote of confidence.

Lady Arwen, I'm sure most people just want to join to ask a few questions, and then once they have their answer probably don't stay much longer. Lots of people probably dont post but read the other peoples posts. You've done a great job with the forum so thank you, and there is lots and lots of info on it already

Lady Laura, I send off an email to everybody. I hope no harm is done. Just tried to revive the forum a little after somebody saying that the forum seemed dead.

Improvements?

Postby Windwalker » Mon Feb 02, 2009 5:45 am

You know Lady Arwen, I don't think anything is really lacking per se. I visit the forum almost daily just to see what's going on. One of the reasons I liked the Lochaber Estates was the forum. I wanted to feel part of a community. I don't know that there is anything specific that could be done to invite more activity to be honest.

Forum

Postby foist on my own petard » Thu Feb 05, 2009 5:50 am

I tried to submit this thought before but it never made it to this Forum, perhaps because someone wisely deleted it. However, here it is again: I think this Forum is excellent and nothing need be done to improve it. If things have been a little slow lately, especially from the U.S., it may be because of economic conditions. People are frightened and withdrawn. This will pass. The forum is great. As you can see, there are other people like me, who are trying to "ruffle a few feathers" to liven up the conversation here a bit. We aren't evil. We're just trying to incite a little dialogue. Please keep the faith and keep up all the good work!

Well, entering into the spirit of things why are you 'foist' and not the more normal 'hoist'?

ONE THOUGHT.............

It would be more enjoyable to know everyone's 'location'. Just go back to the member list and jot it down.

How about a lttle bit on family history and links to Scotland.

For instance, I've only just found out that my ancestors attended Cille Choirill church and that some distant relatives are buried in the cemetery there.
