Postby Laird Peter » Mon Aug 17, 2009 5:54 pm

Hi has one had a wax seal made up ?
iam insterested in geting one just to have a laugh with with letters & birthday cards. it would be nice if the shop sold this with a good design on it. Be a great way off letting freinds & family go camping on our land
with a seal stamp letter of permission to be there.
Its nice being the oldest of 6 even morefun having a tittle and land

If you contact a laser engraving company they should be able to make one for you out of wood. If you send them a black and white design they should easily be able to cut it out of a small piece of wood for you. You could even have it made out of a piece of wood from your plot to make it even more special.

BTW, are we allowed to let 'friends and family' use our plots? I thought it was just the owners only and thats why they issued us with the 'green card'.

Hi Scotland.

I cant see a problem with friends and family using your plot!

I have a 1000 sqft plot which i obtained a full land registry title number for - what a job that was, oh and a postal address.

I now have a tenant who has just received planning permission to erect a medium sized yurt on a long term basis during the shooting season - subject to a few conditions.

Just to clarify he wont be shooting at the estate, he is a member of a Game shooting club in Fort William and goes shooting somewhere at an old wrecked mansion called "Dunalistair House" wherever that is.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Hi Wayne, is your plot on the Lochaber Estate? Also you received a potcode for it? How did you do that? I would like to do that too!

What did your tennant get permission to errect? It looks like you either mistyped or your post has been edited? If it was a cabin what were the terms?

I hope you don't mind answering these questions?

Thanks,
Sinclair

Hi Scot-Land.

No problem.

As for the address, it has full postcode with mailbox... i currently get my post redirected to Cambridge from Scotland. But could get my post delivered to the mail box if i was there - i also have to rubbish bins at the plot!!

I obtained the address on the grounds of my severe disabilities after suggestions and much debate between myself and my my health workers - they did not want me to be at the plot alone without an identifiable address where the emergency services could come too. I contacted Highland council where i had to prove my disability, and get lots of letters from my doctors and health professionals, even then they where reluctant to give out the address!!! - all in all it took about 7 months.

After obtaining the address, i contacted the ROS, who have agreed to register my plot on the basis that i have an address and that i intend to use the plot for recreational purposes and not just for souvenir or sentimental reasons. I proved this by showing them the subsequent planning documents obtained by myself and my tenant - still waiting for registration to complete.

As to the planning, my tenant has permission to place a medium sized "Yurt" which for anybody who is not sure what it is, its a tent like structure during the shooting season.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the detailed reply. I'm sorry to hear of your disabilities.

This should be a good thing for all of us in the future though, having a postcode of roughly that area is a good idea incase some sort of emergency does pop up for any of us in the future, such as a tree or branch falling on someone etc.

I'm off to search on google for a 'Yurt' and see what they look like. I just assumed that you had meant to write hut.

Take care,
Sinclair

Hi, I think I may have mentioned these before on here. You may want to look at this site which looks like a similar sort of design to the yurt but more secure and possibly more waterproof etc:

Personally I'd like to see Lochaber Estates set aside some of their 500 acres is it(?) for people that would like one of the above pods. People could buy a small plot for it and have it sited for them to use in the future.

There could be a strict code of use drawn up etc.

A few people hate this idea but as I say they could set aside a small wooded area where people that don't like this idea wouldn't see them. Maybe on the other side of the hill from their plots? If, this is possible.

Hopefully hear what the owners of Lochaber Estates say about this but i think we were here a year ago and the conversations didn't go too well due to a couple of negative plot owners.

Sorry for all the posts, this is probably filling up your inbox. I found this pic on Wikipedia:

This looks like the sort of thing I'd like to put on my plot to use for star gazing.
