I believe this is a working Telephone. It is next to a live-wire pole and switch box.

If you enlarge the pucture it says:" No Coin Accepted" on the Left side of the booth. Does that mean it's free or do you have to use a credit card?

That's a good question. It appears to be in the countryside - perhaps it is free.

All out of order phone boxes have "no coins accepted" on the side of them. Or most do anyway...

You think they would just disconnect it and take it away...

Sometimes rural telephone boxes still work but only to 999/911 numbers. No coins are required to make an emergency call.
For more photo's of Scotland go to http://picasaweb.google.com/ferguson46 it includes family and pictures from England & Greece.

I have a charge card that is linked to my home telephone account which is kept in the car for emergencies.

The card seems to work with the "No Coins Accepted" box near to my home - ive not had to try a very rural one, will bear Lady Lauras post in mind next time i use the charge card.

I wonder if I bought one of those, if they would get me into the Ministry of Magic. But it is a shame that they are being sold away from Britain.
