Naming

Postby Lord McDonald » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:36 am

Hi all,

Just wondering if ownership of an "estate" enitles us to name our patch of land? I guess we could unofficially, but what I want to know can it be legally done, and how?

For example, could I call my plot Greatview Estate, and be Lord Dene McDonald of Greatview Estate? (Not that I would choose that name, it's just an example).

Sorry if someone has already asked this, but there’s lots to look through in the forums.

So how does one go about doing this? Just saying it? or is there a more official way?
You can identify a true gentleman by how he behaves with the waiter and the taxi driver, not how he behaves when at tea with the Queen.

And if we do name it, do when then become laid/lord of our own estate? EG, Lord Dene McDonald of Greatview Estate?

Our house has been "named" by my father, "Dorchester" and he is also now known as Lord Alexander of Dorchester

Greetings to all Lords and Ladys.

I have (unofficially) named my 1 ft plot, 'Bard's Foot' but when I can afford a larger estate (10 ft.) it will be called 'Bard's Glen Estate'. I might still change my 1 ft. plot to that name as well, as it just sounds so nice. :D

The land is actually yours, so if you do want to name it, is is perfectly alright to do so.
Have fun with it! As for me, I still love to take out all mine and my son's paperwork with our titles, crests and such and look over them ever so often, to see my title cards in my purse, and watch the Lochaber DVD showing the land.
It always makes me smile to think of it, that I am doing something for the land, and enjoying using my title on my mailing lists, etc.

Goodnight to all.

Lady Lisa.
