Grant of Title Certificate

Postby Lord Pittaway » Thu Aug 27, 2009 12:53 pm

Hi all,

This is just an idea that I came up with when going through my pack for my new plot. (I have forwarded it to Lochaber) but I am also just interested to see what all you lords and ladies think?

the current title deed is more of a legal document transfering the land to the new owner yes it does have the seal on it also but when I look at mine it gives me more of a feeling of a transfer of land document not a confirmation as a lord.

The Grant of title certificate could contain the Coat of arms seal and signatures and state that the person is now a lord lady of Lochaber and now has been been granted the title of ...... under Scottish law ...... on this day ....... and as such from this time on will be know as ......... or somthing along those lines, could also be a great item for a frame etc

any comments welcome

Wonderful idea.
You can identify a true gentleman by how he behaves with the waiter and the taxi driver, not how he behaves when at tea with the Queen.

I think it's a very good idea, especially as the title is hereditary. A Deed of Title would be ideal to pass on to future generations.

Lord Pittaway, have you seen this?

Personalised Entitlement Card

Our Credit Card sized Entitlement Card will help you establish your new aristocratic identity as a Laird of Lochaber and is much easier than carrying your certificate with you. This card is not included as standard with any of the gift packs, but can be purchased as an extra into the package, or at a later date.

We print your new full name and title onto a plastic "credit card", printed with a view from your estate and the Lochaber crest. The card bears the additional text "This card certifies that YOUR TITLE and NAME is the owner of an estate in Lochaber Scotland and is entitled to assume the title and style of Laird* of Lochaber".

* Lord, Laird or Lady is printed, depending on the title you have selected

Hello Lady Arwen,

Thank you very much for your response, Yes I do actually have one of the cards you mention :) and it is fantastic for carrying around.

But the deed of title certificate I am proposing would not be used for the same purpose. It would be something that can be framed and shown as proof of your title when showing others at home and used along side the master title deed when companies banks etc request more proof of title (you cant do that with the current land deed). and as mentioned by Lord Rhoderick "the title is hereditary. A Deed of Title would be ideal to pass on to future generations"

I like the idea of a "Grant of Title Certificate" very much. It certainly gets my vote.

Grant of Title

Postby foist on my own petard » Wed Sep 02, 2009 1:45 am

I do understand what you are saying. A "grant of title" with a wax seal would look impressive. Speaking just for myself, however, the Lochaber Highland Estates certificate I got with my purchase of a 1-square-foot plot serves my purposes just fine. First, it declares that I am a LORD OF LOCHABER. Secondly, it looks good in a frame. Third, it won a bet that I had with my wife that I could purchase a title for for next to nothing. Isn't it a wonderful world?

Hi Lairds and Ladies
I think this is an excellent idea.

Please keep voting, it appears to have lost some of it's impetuous of late.

I would certainly like one to frame

We need more Lords, Lairds & Ladies to vote, please. 22 votes out of the total number of Lochaber Lords etc is a very poor response.

Nice idea! It`s truth that we already have a personal card with our Title, but, a Title Certificate could be nice too I think!

I think this is a great idea. I did not think about the subject till reading this post. I would be nice to hand this down thru the generations.
