Etiquette, deportment, social graces...

Postby Reverend Lady Matthews » Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:00 am

HI all,
I would like to see more information about the
etiquette of using a title, tips on deportment (Laird school?)
and social graces which go along with our positions.
Ideas on how to be an aristocrat, basically and we all
know this is not taught in the day to day scheme of things.
I'd be willing to write down some of what I have learned
and it would be interesting to share with others too.

I hate to pour cold water on the subject of using titles but Laird and Lady in the context of Scottish landholders are not of the Aristocracy but are of the Gentry; a somewhat lower social order. Regarding manners, nothing more than those normally used in everyday social life are needed, in fact remembering to say "Thank you" for small courtesies will carry more weight than is usually imagined.
