Coat of arms and avatar

Postby Gerulf » Thu Aug 21, 2008 12:53 pm

If anybody is interested, I can make you a coat of arms and compress it to use as an avatar on this site...

The Coat of arms is not going to be registered anywhere. And is as such just for fun and personal use.

If you has any preferences as to what pattern and contest of the shield, pleas tell me and mail me. I will mail you the crest for approval and eventually changes...

Very cool. My family has a coat of arms, but I'd be damned if I could find a copy of it. Of course, it could be in my mom's attic, along with lots of my old books...
I know it's not real, but it's fun!

That's it! I had a print made for my dad several years ago, and it's been in my attic for quite a while.

The use of Coats of Arms is for me just fun. My mothers family descents from the Klausen line. A German line whit the Coat of Arms of a black shield and a smaller golden shield inside on witch is a rampart lion.

I my self is more in line with my fathers family, proud Icelandish people. Direct decenting from the vikings. Vikings did not use Crests as there is no nobility on Iceland...Everybody on Iceland is nobelity...

Guess it can't be called a crest - only a badge - which can legitimately be worn & used by clan members.

The crest & coat-of-arms was recently restored to the Clan itself by the Lord Lyon King of Arms and was designed from the original of King Arthur.

Our clan chief was beheaded by James I in 1427 and now, after hundreds of years, we have a seated a new Clan leader.

History is the fun part of geneology.

Laird Eoin........

Do you know where in Scotand your McArthurs migrated from and when?

Mine left the Isle of Mull in 1830 & 1849.

My McArthur was Mary McArthur and she was married to John Campbell and according to a family tombstone they were from 'The Braes of Lochaber'. According to family legend she was of the McArthur branch that were hereditary pipers to the Lord of the Isles.
They came to Australia as a married couple in 1839 with one son Alexander.

Here they prospered and multiplied to the extent that I'm still finding new relatives.

My pleasure - If a Laird cant help a fellow Laird/Lord or Lady in the dire situations life cast upon us. Then the world might as well stop rotating...

Enjoy..

Lochaber is Campell country...you cant walk down the street without every third person being a Campbell! I expect you have enen more history here (ie descendants from john Campbell who didnt go to Aus but stayed here) so an excuse to visit here soon :)
