Changing Name on passport / bank etc

I went into my local branch of the Halifax the Saturday before last to get my accounts changed for my title.

I presented them with the Master Title Deed, which they accepted as OK for the change but their computer system would not allow them to change my title to Laird, even though it was in their drop-down list. :(

Instead they had me fill in a change of Name / Address form, and took copies of all the relevant documents to send away. They were very apologetic that they couldn't do it there and then.

It's been over a week now and nothing. Not even a "sod off"........

Anyone else been successful with the Halifax / Bank of Scotland recently?

Hi Folks.

Haven't logged in for a while.

When you change your driving license and bank details etc. Do you have to change them all? Or, can you just change some of them?

Ta
I was in the jungle and there was this monkey with a tin opener. I said, "You don't need a tin opener to peel a banana." He said, "No, this is for the custard."

I've changed all my details over, and had no problems at all. The bank were very pleased to change my details for me. The only thing I've not done yet is my driving licence, as I need it for photographic proof of I.D when I start university this month, so I'll do that afterwards.

But then I'll have to remember to change my details with the University too, so when I get my degree they can call me up by my full title. It'll be marvellous lol

I have also been able to change all my details very easily some of the banks were fine with just a scanned and emailed copy of my master title deed, others required it to be actually sent. I haven't changed my passport or drivers licence as they do not have a title listed. But I have read in one of the other treads that some passports have a also known as area when you fill out a renewal or new application I will try that next year when I renew my passport.

Hello all this is my first post, Ive been looking through all your posts and they all look reassuring.

Just recently in the past 2 weeks I have applied for 2 new credit cards Barclays and Bank of scotland platinum cards I was approved with my new title Lord, with regards to my other cards they all are requesting proof of title change IE: Passport, marriage certificate deed poll or Driving licence ( neither of these show title and im certainly wont get deed poll as it costs £20 ish pounds and you cant change title on there)

I have also in the past week applied for new driving licence online, with my new title and they accepted it; cost: £20.00 for new licence.

with regards to passport I have received a printed application form which I filled out online with my new Title on it will be sending off next month and will let you all know how it goes...

Im waiting for a reply from orange to change my title on my mobile phone contract (no news is good news i hope! )

I will soon with the master title deed be going to the banks and changing my title when i receive it, i hope it looks nice and not cheap looking :) with a wax stamp would be fantastic!

Hi Laird Phil

I opened up new accounts recently with the halifax and BOS and had no problem what so ever as I used the title Lord when i applied, it did show up on my experian report as aliases but next day was removed by experian (may the removed as I applied for credit cards approx 2 years ago under the title Lord so maybe they except this now, I have no idea but barclays bank gave me Credit card with title lord on it

Lord Hedlund pulls it off!!!! OK folks, here we go.... I went into the Bank of Scotland and used the Master Title Deed to change my credit and debit cards and all my banking information. It took a few minutes and was very simple. I then went to my HSBC and used the Master Title Deed and Passport to change all that information as well. The final ones were to call my credit card accounts (without banking accounts) and just asking for those cards to be change. I did NOT run across anything difficult nor did I get any hassle from anyone, the whole process was smooth and I have to say I am rather looking forward to getting all the update info as well.

As for a British passport I do not know, but as for an American Passport, you are not allowed to hold titles nor put them on a Passport, so that can not be done.

Cheers and Boat Drinks!!! Lord Hedlund

Well, I've had my new (black and white) driving licence through, with my title of Lady Emma Louise Hine on it, and they were fine with it all, and even didn't use the S.A.E I'd sent them to send back my Master Title Deed, they used one of their own. Lovely folks down at the DVLA, bless. So, everything has been done now!

Found out kind of by accident, HBOS have finally sorted it and updated my accounts with my title after 2 months........ :D

Only found out as got 2 phone calls from HBOS asking for "Laird Philip" whist I was at work.
Not informed anywhere else yet so it could only be HBOS or Lochaber Highland Estates.

Called into a branch and checked with them, and got it confirmed.

Haven't got a new card yet, probably what they were calling about.

I'll call them back and get it sorted as soon as the post stike in the UK is over.
